ARGUMENT

Saint Genevieve of Bramante's well known life story could be summarised as a story of fidelity.

Sipoi (Sigfride) abandons Genevieve, who is with child, under the care of his servant, the Baron Gallo. This tries to take advantage of the situation, but Genevieve resists heroically. On the face of this attitude Gallo takes revenge sending a defamatory letter to Sipoi in which he tells howhe found his wife commiting adultery with the cook. Back from war this lie will be corroborated by a wizard. Sipoi, desperate, sends his wife and son to be killed. Nevertheless, Genevieve's servants, who know her goodness, seeming to obey the order, leave the mother and son under the care of the shepherds. Finally, all the truth will be discovered and the good will have their deserved reward and the wicked their punishment.
